Kalamunda’s Zig Zag Festival is set to be revitalised and extended in 2018.

For only the second time in over 30 years, the 2017 Zig Zag Festival has been cancelled due to a shortage in active members on the event’s organising committee.

The festival organisers, Zig Zag Community Arts, are using this year to plan, and have teamed up with UpBeat Events to design a revitalised event for the community next year with the next Zig Zag Festival taking place on Sunday October 28, 2018.

The first step is a consultation process to encourage participation and engagement in the event with a survey being distributed throughout the community.

The questionnaire will seek opinions about past festivals and encourage feedback and contributions for future events. It will also gather responses to proposed inclusions such as a ‘pop-up’ bar and the extension of the Festival footprint.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to have their say at a special consultation evening to be held at the Kalamunda Club on Friday 13 October from 6-8pm.

The consultation period opens 1 September and runs to 20 November.

Surveys are available in hard copy at all City of Kalamunda locations, online at www.kalamunda.wa.gov.au and at the Zig Zag Community Arts website zigzagfestival.org.
